I'd like to do the same, the dubstep/UK bass scene where I am is completely dead
Being able to get a a set or two in London would be brilliant! Very long way to travel for me but I hope it'd be worth it

Throw a night yourself, if there is no competition you will be surprised how many people may come.

Just find a small venue with a decent system.

Can't believe you're saying there is nothing around Huddersfield when you're literally a 45min journey from manc/leeds/sheffield...

I've thought about this but I've seen many dubstep/UK bass nights in Huddersfield fail with the exception of POWAH which ran for a few years
Also I doubt I've got enough money at this moment in time to run a night

This is true, especially saying Leeds is just a 15 minute train journey away & there's SUBDUB & Exodus and many more
I'm meaning actually in Huddersfield itself

Haha I just moved back home to Cumbria from Huddersfield... you have no idea mate, so much more going on there than here, and you're so close to Leeds!

if you want to play out, you have a couple of options:

be friends with the promoters who put on nights
be an absolutely sick dj and get noticed like that (note this is very rare and doesnt happen much anymore, you have to produce to get noticed)
produce music and get bookings
put a night on yourself

if you dont produce stuff and arent signed to a label, and you dont have a proper outlet and folllowing of your music, then the best bet to either put a night on urself, or become friends with people who already put nights on.

note: putting a night on in london is probably one of the hardest places to put a successful night on, many venues wont deal with first time promoters, but its worth contacting every single one to see.
