AT ATH-M50 vs AKG K240 MII

Post by DjTrainWreck » Tue Sep 11, 2012 12:46 pm

Im off to college in a few weeks and im leaving my monitors at home. My question is to you guys- what pair of headphones do you suggest i take for my journey?

Im looking at headphones around $100. I have no amp or whatever and my sound card isnt the best. I would like to have a flat response and decent, punchy bass. The 2 pairs of headphones I have arent great and I get shit bass off both of them. I have a lower end model of AKGs and some $20 dollar behringers.

I dont record vocals or instruments or anything and after reading for a while, the M50s would do that better than the AKGs. Unfortunately, i have no way to test both the headphones as i live in a magical place called Poland.

Does anyone have experience with both of these headphones? Id love to hear your comparisons or recommendations or personal experiences or whatever. I understand that the M50s are more popular and everywhere i read people recommend them over most but the k240s also look very appealing with great reviews. Thanks in advance

No idea about the ATH ?? But AKG K240 are a fine headphone. They may not have as deep bass as other options but they are pretty
neutral, comfortable and accurate.

Cheers

I have the Akg k240 not the 2nd gen tho. I have used them for about 4 months now. They are very neutral and balanced as the previous poster mentioned. Quality headphones. I dont find them harsh or boomy in any way but they did take some getting used to, especially if you are used to closed back headphones/in ear buds. They are comfy to wear.
I have not tried the At ath-m50 :?

one thing I really like about the ath-m50's is that they're really comfortable. I wear mine all day, everyday
