hm i heard good things about selfbuild computers so maybe ask around if anybody of your friends has deeper knowledge of computers and their parts to help you out with what you actually need for producing

8 GB Ram - 16 GB Ram, Quadcore- Six-Core, Video Graphics Card 1GB GDDR5(Yeah graphics does play a partial role in producing), Motherboard can be in the $75-$110 range, 550 -750 watt power-supply to be safe = An excellent desktop to produce on. I made my own by ordering parts off of newegg.com
Building it was a bitch but I did it in 8-12 hours......it was confusing as fuck, just started plugging shit in randomly like a puzzle.

Good, well this encompasses all those companies that make laptops specifically for music production there is a lot to mess up when speccing a laptop.
Cheap - well to include 'good' you are going to need some luck, you only need one quirk on a laptop and it will mess your music making plans up. I would invest in a tool that won't frustrate the hell out of you from the beginning and I can recommend 'Inta Audio' if you are UK based.
cheers
SafeandSound Mastering : PMC IB1S, MANLEY Massive Passive (Hardware), Summit Audio DCL-200, HCL Varis Vari Mu, Custom stereo linked 5 band mastering EQ.

You can get good 'cheap' laptops if you just go inspect a few decent pawn shops. I picked up a nice specced ASUS which retailed around £450 for about £220 once...

On Saturday online retailers like Amazon begin charging sales tax in the California and other parts of the USA. If you're gonna buy online, you can save some cash by doing it today.

Obviously there's savings to be had all the time, I was just making a suggestion that worked for me.
