I haven't d/led these as I dont think I will like them but am I right in thinking these are mash ups?
Hmmm - I think it's a bit dodgy to put an accapella over a well known beat when dubstep is such a niche scene - fair play to people who do 'proper' pirate soul remakes and write their own fresh backing tracks - yam who, blackbeard etc... but surely if your gonna try to invent this 'thugstep' genre - you should at least manage to write your own dubstep backing tracks...
Don't think many of these producers will be happy with you using their beats and taking a joint writers credit on the title!
Maybe it's the US hip hop mixtape versions culture thing not translating well over the water?

The reason was there was a lot of drama on here - Nappy vs. pretty much everyone else on the forum in a massive 15 page argument.. wasn't pretty. I assumed you were him actually, posting under an alias. Nothing against you personallytipz wrote:ok im sorry if i offened any1 by postin this up here,
the reason i put these together was to push a genre abit that id neva heard b4, i like the transition.
i can see u guys aint interested
1) how is the idea of a mashup or blend something that's US and not translating, when the term "mashup" is international? and wouldn't providing an original back track, like the sick remixes XI does, not make these mashups? are you basically saying you don't like the idea of mashups?D-Nile wrote:I haven't d/led these as I dont think I will like them but am I right in thinking these are mash ups?

2) no one is trying to invent a genre. when nappy did these remixes, he was doing what he's done with hiphop and other genres - he's just making blends.
it must be b/c dubstep is a "niche" genre, as you put it. everyone is so protective of the music... i just don't get it.
in any case, shouts to dj tipz for this one. big up dj cable as well. and, as per usual, big up dj nappy each and every.
sry tipz, although i am in no way shocked that the forum regulars came at you like this.

you say he conducted himself one way, but i saw the progression for what it was, and yourself and the rest of the mods did what you had to do, i guess. no need to get into a round of us disagreeing with each other, esp on that point.UFO over easy wrote:That has nothing to do with tipz, and everything to do with the way Nappy conducted himself on here first time round.khal wrote: sry tipz, although i am in no way shocked that the forum regulars came at you like this.
in any case, big up tipz. proper DJ.
