How you going to be spending your production time today?

Post by wub » Sun Nov 11, 2012 10:35 am

- Working on some beat programming ideas I had Friday, want to have a decent 64 bar loop by the end of the session so that I have a decent soundbed for next week.

- Sound design on Toxic Biohazard as I don't know it well enough yet

- Sampling from a rhumba double album I picked up in Cuba a few years back

- Last night I converted a few random records I bought yesterday, so I can sample from today.

- Maybe make a beat (or two)

Wierd I was planning on laying down some sounds with toxic too as Its just sitting there gathering dust, yet last night I had a crack at it and am impressed and looking forward to making some patches

Also going to be nailing down a solid sound with the drum kit Im busy with, from there perhaps lay down an intro

-Finally got my Mac organized so making jams won't be a hassle

-Got the day off work today which is a plus, probably watching some tutorials because it's been awhile

-Start a fresh track, and learn from mistakes

Sound design session today I reckon. Gonna try to make some pads and stuff, drums etc.
Then Im gonna listen to some Noisia/Koan Sound/Burial or whatever and feel like I will never be a good producer. Maybe.

Completely redo a tune I've been working on since June or May again. It'll be the same tune with the same breaks and patterns, I'm just gonna make it sound prettier and more agressive. A neverending cycle of perfectionism.

Best decision ever btw. I tend to 'over-EQ' and 'over-process'. Now I stripped everything back and just did what sounded right and it's sounding much better.

It went from being a 220 bpm breakcore tune to a 150 hardcore one to a 175 hardcore one with dnb bits to a 175 bpm tune with equal parts hardcore and dnb.

- Fucked about with MMultiband Granular I got off my lady for my birthday cuz she knows I've got a boner for granular synthesis at the moment.

- Played Sim City 4 for a few hours.

- Just did some sound design in RhinoCM for about 2 or so hours as Z3ta's decided to make Reaper keep crashing and I also want to proper suss the FM/additive possibilities in Rhino.

- Read DSF

- Bout to watch some walking dead.

Not a very productive day but :h: I'm in a happy place for sure.

Started work on a 125bpm techno-ish beat on my lunchbreak. Not sounding too shabby.
