Yamaha HS50m + KRK 10s
I am in the market for some monitors and i really like the sound of the mids/highs on the hs50/hs80's however they lack bass for me.
I am in a fairly large room and would definitely need a sub so i was considering getting a 5" driver with an external subwoofer.
Would the hs50m's work well this the 10s? or should i get the hs80's?
I mix alot of Dub/DNB aswell as house, but i need the lows to get a good mix
Would i be wasting money getting the sub and the 5's instead of just the 8"?

Re: Yamaha HS50m + KRK 10s
I have The Yamaha HS80'M's and the KRK RP6's. I prefer mixing with the Yamaha's, but you have to be careful with the perceived low end. Unfortunately in my case the monitors are literally next to the wall, and i don't have any sort of acoustic treatment. How big is your room? If its average sized you definitely don't want large monitors, you would be better of with HS50M's.

the HS80s certainly do not lack bass

My room is pretty normal sized maybe 15 foot by 20 foot. (Probably smaller, thats just an estimate.)
I have some treating but not too much, I could get some bass traps if need be.
I'm warming more to the hs80m's with no sub but people say that they lack alot of low end unless they are in a tiny room. I have my ATH-M50's to reference bass but I would prefer to have the bass from the monitor itself

Re: Yamaha HS50m + KRK 10s
Definitely go for the Yamaha HS80M's, I'm not sure getting a sub is really essential to be honest, most people don't have or use one. The KRK10 sub was quiet pricey as well.
Re: Yamaha HS50m + KRK 10s
My room is like maybe 3 X 3 metres roughly and I assure you HS80s have plenty of bass, turn them up loud and they rock the bass. You dont wanna have a sub and then it be overpowering the room with bass then. Dont really know how they work, but im sure theyd have a separate volume control? So then you need to make sure you have it at a relative volume so the bass isnt too loud.

hahaha nah bro, I went to a music store and heard them myself today. I also tried out the rokit 8's and the hs80m's seemed alot more flat sounding to my earsskimpi wrote:Dont blame me if you dont like them though haha, but I am happy with mine
