Quickfire Interview with TMSV

Post by moyma » Sun Nov 25, 2012 10:35 am

As part of my podcast I have been featuring interviews with artists whose music I have put in that mix. For podcast 007 it was Dutch producer TMSV. He gave some interesting answers on his production, tips on music production and his some other randomness.

TMSV wrote:What advice would you give to up and coming artists?

Don’t be pretentious and just be yourself. Acting like you’re super deep when you’re just a regular guy is absolute nonsense. Take just a bit more time than you think you need to learn how to make decent tunes: immediately posting every awful tune you make from the start isn’t going to get you anywhere. Be polite and don’t spam, but don’t be afraid to contact other people and show them your music. Accept feedback and criticism, even if it’s dubstepforum-dogsonacid harsh; There’s no such thing as ‘haters’. Imitating other artists’ sounds is a perfect way to practice, but be honest to yourself about what you want to create. Not hearing back from big names when you send them stuff is very common, don’t let that stop you from working towards your goals. The most important one is finish tunes. You will never get anywhere with dozens of 16 bar loops that kind of sound like what you’re after: practicing composition and incorporating proper musical elements and structure is more important than getting a Noisia-quality mixdown after a year of producing.
Good advice.

Great interview :Q: :W:

Thanks for the feedback people. TMSV gave some great answers...and he likes a good curry :Q:

There will be more Quickfire this week with Compa. I will post a link here at the weekend and I will dig up some of the older interviews from past podcasts. There was a one with Phaeleh and also a Be-1ne interview.

Haha I was listening to Opgezwolle for the first time in quite a while while I was reading this interview, and when he was asked what music he listens to he answered Opgezwolle. Funny.

Great interview!
