Saw wave + Skew. Thats how I would do it, but I'm sure there are a hundred different ways.

Not so much the sound itself as it is the way he arranges the clip/midi notes.

He's just automated the LFO to go from eight notes to sixteenth notes to quarter notes. You can just use one long midi note and then draw the LFO changes you want.

What don't you understand about programming the notes in midi?
You can use one long midi note and automate the lfo, automate the envelope, program the actual notes in midi, quick chopped 16ths moving back to 8ths, etc.

re-sample, chop up the sound and run it through an arpeggiator instead of an LFO

i spent aaaages trying to make this sound and what i found was it doesn't even matter if the sound is in tune. just distort the shit out of something and add a steep downwards pitch envelope

In FL Studio, when using sytrus(I use it for some of my basses), I usually use the filter tab. In the filter tab there is a Skew knob(The knob that says SK right under your wave form box.). It makes your sounds chirp and stuff.

I was also wondering what 'skew' is.
This explains it, but it's using the word in the definition.... lol http://www.image-line.com/support/FLHel ... rus_op.htm

I get it now because it shows how it affects the wave when you play with it on sytrus, I think you could get similar effects by mixing two waves in the LFO part of massive but I'm not 100%

That machine gun effect can be made by automating a bandpass filter. I used the performer in massive in this clip

Obviously, the characteristics of this sound is not close to the sound you posted, but that machine gun effect is there.

It sounds like the LFO has been synced to 1/12 to get that off beat syncopated feel.

Set your grid to 1/3 or 1/4 and just draw the notes in. Steep downwards pitch envelope is also a plus :)

its a damn saw wave with some phase modulation with just a damn ramp down LFO on the cutoff with rate being automated

IMO

using Massive I'd say Crude Osc 1, -24 pitch/ Osc 2 Sine Wave -24/ Osc 3 Saw wave -24, Spectrum on Bend -/+.

Filter possibly LP24, then modulate the Filter cutoff with a Performer. Use the sharp waves in the curve tables... it'll look something like this shitty sketch----> |\|\|\

Turn all your Amps on your OSCs to about 2 o clock then attach the same performer you used on your cutoff going all the way to 5 o clock.

flick through the oscs to see which sound closest to that mechanical sound. Have a play with different filters too.

Also turn on your noise and select metallic, set your colour and amp knobs to 8 o clock (should be like that by default I would have thought) then using the same performer as the rest apply it to both colour and amp knob, drag it all the way over to 5 o clock.

Id'd then automate the the performer rate to give the desired speed of the machine gun effect.

Hope it makes sense. Good luck let me know if it works!
