So I know there's a lot that don't care etc and I'm certainly not a fan of the guy but its like he went from ysing skrillex samples to producing the skrillex sound? How has he done that? Who has he ended up meeting along the way to show him, becoz its not like he's even associated with anyone producing that sound.

Some of the funniest stuff I've heard him come out with is like how talks about how he was good at mixing before he released the zomboy stuff and then how he doesn't want to share how he makes the sounds becoz its taken him so long to workout how to make it, but its like MATE WE HEARD THE FUCKIN TRACKS!! Lol blatant samples and deffo not mixed well lol

Anyway my point to this is that his new stuff has got some sick sounds in it, even the drums are sick! And the mixdown on his stuff is a million times better... I'd say he doesn't mix his own stuff anymore, but where's the sounds come from?

And yea maybe he did put the hours in but so do so many others and there's not exactly much info on the net how to get the exact sound.

I can tell you that I heard a sampled Skrillex kick in one of his tunes, sampled it myself once upon a time.
The drums part is not really that hard once you understand how they sound so good, then it's all about finding right samples and stuff.
+Skism can have tought him alot, and all the other guys on NSD

EDIT: I know the basics to some of his sounds, havent bothered to try to make them exactly as his though

Seriously, listen to his tunes. Point me to one sound that sounds like Skrillex. His growls sound NOTHING like Skrillz.

Yeah, he had some RAWRAWR-wobbles back on his earlier tracks that sounded like some of Skrillex synths but that was a long time ago. Listen to the growl in Nuclear for example. It has NOTHING in common with Skrillex growls. I really don't get it when people bring this up, there are many producers who's sounds are a lot closer.

Maybe it's something I'm missing, I dunno. I just don't see the similarities, the tonal qualites of the growls are so far apart.

All you need to do is dedicate some time to learning FM8, watch some tutorials, and figure it out from there. His mixdowns are pretty crisp that's one of the reasons why I like listening to his songs.

He uses massive for his ones, so..
But yeah, I love his mixdowns, they're always crisp as fuck.

composition. you might think its the individual sounds that are what sounds good. but it's not, it's the arrangement and contradictions. a growl will ALWAYS sound better if the sounds before and after it COMPLIMENT the growl. also, silence, and variations in the volume envelope.

anybody can make those sounds - the hard part is arranging them so they sound good together.

so, bounce out an 8 bar bass riff, bounce out the same riff with some hovers, then again to some high pitched/laser gun noises. once you have 4-5 copies of the same riff, but with different sounds, start cutting that up and splicing it together.

I'm sure that phrase is directed toward rich people buying useless items. Skrillex's laptop is his source of income so it would make sense to have the best of the best.

I think his point is that Skrillex may have wasted the money with none left for a laptop. If there's one thing I learned in accounting, it's that profit = revenue - expenditure.
