So I know loads of people post all kinds of stuff about monitors on DF, i got a question I currently have KRK rokit 5's when i took my tracks into my studio they sound completely different and not as punchy compared to the krks my studio has genelecs
So im thinking now krks are shit lol

I need something more flat to get a more honest sound if that makes sense im thinking some Mackie mr5's or some yamaha hs80ms what do u guys reckon?
I think krks are good for listening to tunes but not so good for production...

Those are some tiny ass speakers, though. If you're making bass heavy music, I don't think 5 inch speakers are gonna cut it either way.

The sound of any speaker will heavily depend upon the room it's in. Room treatment makes a massive difference.

I've got the VXT 8 series. Pretty happy with them, sound is crystal clear.
My mom said she never knew music could be so clear after listening to some tracks on them

KRKs are fucking awesome for the price... but for transparency they really just don't compare to the high end Genelecs I used to use at uni

Small world eh, wait till you see the Spiral - most people never go in it apart from postgrads but you might get a chance to visit like I did. It's a big anechoic room with virtually zero reverb and a 25.4(really!) surround monitor setup in a kind of sphere around you with 4 subs in the corners

Learn to use spectral analyzers and you can produce on laptop speakers.

KRKs have extra bass or something, so they are preferred by dance music producers.

They do the trick. I produce on rp5s, you just have to get used to the sound of them, reference lots of really well produced tracks for a while to get what they should sound like and you will be able to cope. They are really good for the price as mentioned before.
