What genre of music has the most technically gifted DJs?
Overall standard, like.
For example, Youngsta might be a beast but Dubstep mixing by and large is a bit pony considering so much of it is the same BPM to begin with.

breakcore has to be difficult, especially with a nice amount of tracks being in 7/4

uh hello ? ...hip hop (as in turntablism) ?
i dont think any of the high profile dj's in the genres mentioned so far would technically be able to reproduce a dmc winning routine
edit: arf too late

DJing = Turntablism
Mixing is an element of turntablism. It's just that most "DJs" only bother to learn that bit.

You won't get very far scratching if you're not mixing the scratches into another record!Nevalo wrote:yea but these days turntablism generally is talking about scratching etc....

It not really as clear cut as that imo. Some djs are able select tunes and blend them together much better than a dj who can scratch/go bananas with the eqs and faders etc and vice versa.
Re: What genre of music has the most technically gifted DJs?
Ghettotech and hardcore. They do all the shit the hip-hop turntablists do at a much higher speed with much harder to mix records. Most hardcore DJs only stick to basic mixing of course, but the straight up turntablists blow the hip-hop DJs out of the water.
I jumped into mixing breakcore like within a month of me learning how to mix. :p
The raw beatmatching aspect of it isn't very hard. It's mostly just fast and easy to find the backbeat if you listen to it a lot. And most of it is in 4/4, it's only Snares who mostly writes in 7/4.JTMMusicuk wrote:breakcore has to be difficult, especially with a nice amount of tracks being in 7/4
