who still listens to dubstep?

Post by drake89 » Wed Dec 05, 2012 7:00 pm

I don't hardly listen to new dubstep at all. I think the last track I bought was 'decisions' by borgore, simply because I can't believe that he got miley fucking cyrus to do a track with him.

I got into dubstep because I was overwhelmed with the crazy wierd noises and because it was so fun to dance to. Now there are very few artists that are pushing the envelope and the most recent wave of 'complextro' is not to my liking. Maybe I'm just not listening to the right people, I'm sure there are some unsigned people that are making new cool stuff.

Some people I still listen to: rusko (meh), martyparty, heyoka, glitch mob.
People over on gearslutz were drooling over joy orbison, bought his ep and was very dissapoint. Not overwhelmed by Flylo either. Saw big gigantic live and was very dissapointed by the complextro shit they're pushin. Ana sia was also dissapointing with just playing this trap shit.

So do you all still listen to new dubstep? If so, who is doing it right for ya?

I like the way dubstep is evolving, its going the way I want and I'm really into comlextro. IMO the new dubstep is setting the standard for sound design and musical ideas. There are a few crap tunes about but every few weeks I still hear a track that makes me go "WOW"

I have to say that it is going a bit more mainstream but for the first time since I was born the mainstream is going in a direction I sort of like, a bit.

Hate to say it, but its really all i listen too.... Or should i say get into...

I have respect for all music, and i can enjoy listening to most of it. For most of my friends, its not their 1# favorite genre so i end up listening to anything from folk metal like Wintersun to Papoose, big L, lil B. But nothing gets me going like dubstep, or EDM in general.

I don't listen to much music, let alone dubstep, never really made that much dubstep aswell. Been totally out of the loop on dubstep since about 2009, though my interest in dubstep started to fade before then. I only joined this website, to enter the sample comps, but I stayed for the Alpacas.

troll harder. I'm still down to support my local scene, and show up to nights still. nobody has posted a single tune. I'm looking at the circus records banner right now, I listened to the whole summer 2012 mix and rocksonix's new EP. nothing new there, they got their sound, and it's too shrill, plastic-y, and trite for extended listening.

it would be great if someone would post new tunes that are killer :4: , cause I ain't finding em.

I'm being serious, apart from the alpacas.

Also never heard of any of these; "martyparty, heyoka, big gigantic, and Ana sia"

There are two sides to dubstep, the boring one, and the irritating/boring one.

The new culprate ep is pretty dope. Nightmares in wax. Also like document ones new ep. Other than that I've been listening to more folk music than anything else.

You're listening to one style of a massive genre (arguably the most bland), and wondering why you're getting bored? There are so many artists and styles from the likes of Phaeleh, Author, Jack Sparrow to the whole M.U.D, Innamind crew and all the more 'dancey' tearout stuff in between (coki, kromestar, badklaat yada yada). Mix that shit up homie

same shit here bro. but a few artists like sublime, slightly stoopid. big l, big pun, 90s rap in general that gets me groovin. that and EDM...

as far as the dubstep goes im not a big fan of the complextro type shit. some are okay but it all just sounds too similar now. i like listening to some older dubstep or some less mainstream shit.

I don't know about you guys but I am like really into that ChillStep like Mt.Eden is probably the best thing out there in the genre.
But you know I can't always listen to Chillstep and heavy brutal Dubstep.
I am also a Hip hop junkie, Tupac and Biggie by far the greatest.
