Just thought it might be an idea to see what peoples influences are and where they came from, put here anything you would recommend people checking out:

Recently I've been listening to a lot of Miles Davis / Gil Evans gear again, plus some 80s Womack, some folky soul... The new rocksteady compo on Moll Selekta has bene on heavy rotation too. And advance CDs of John Eden's new mix

and timbaland - loving the Aaliyah greatest hits (!!!!) never wouldve thought it a few years back but man his beats are soooo sick- We Need A Resolution is soo heavy

I find alot of people who like minimal techno have an ear for dubstep..

That Portishead album, i discovered a new track the other day 'Its a Fire' is that a bonus track or somethign because any other copy of the album ive got doesnt have it on there, really good track as well.

Yeh definately man

Although for me it actually worked the other way round! I was more of warp records glitch boy re: electronic music (aside from my near obsession with hip-hop throughout teenage years), am very very much a latecomer to 'minimal'. Theyve got a lot in common in my opinion, space, less is more etc. And emphasis on softer, echo chamber vibes and trippy atmospherics

You can't go far wrong with labels like Warp/Rephlex/Planet-Mu. Most decent genres of music have been represented in their somewhere.

Planet-Mu in particular has picked up alot recently, that Boxcutter EP is absolutely stunning in my opinion. Equinox tunes too, dread!

producing since i was 13 now am 21

plastikman tek9 new cd has minimal techno into dubstep---got the new promo

cant say too much as a feind who osts on here is in on it----its coming soon and its very weird...he uses ableton live 5 to do all his mixing and its just a drem journey
