Synths from your Favorite Producers

Post by Alan X » Fri Jan 04, 2013 11:04 pm

Would you pay for synths that replicate synths of favorite artists? For example, a lead from producer X in song X as a preset on any given DAW. I have always wanted something like this but haven't found it yet. No I am NOT trying to sell a product with this thread, so keep your llamas in your moms basement. :dunce: :corndance: :cornlol:  :P

I wouldn't imo. Wanting to reproduce the same emotions/vibe as a producer is one thing but sounding exactly like the motherfucker is another :W: .

Id rather a tutorial that shows the steps that they took in making that sound like eq/fx chain automation etc.

Any who...

Why would I want this? Well, you want to improve as a producer don't you? I like the idea of a tutorial but its far simpler to set up instrument racks with macros in Ableton, for example, and allow other users to tinker with the controls to rediscover how the sounds was made. Hence, I think it would be awesome if someone sold or gave away some fairly complex synths replicating producers that do what you want to do professionally. It's great tinkering around yourself to create sounds, but reengineering something beautiful can accelerate the learning curve of synth design. For those of you who don't like this idea, I would really enjoy hearing some of your original synths if you have already mastered the art. Please, share the wealth!

I never said I wanted to sound exactly like another producer, just use what they've made to learn about synth design. If I really wanted to steal their sound for my own use, I could have done so myself half a dozen different ways.

To find people like myself who would like to exchange replicated synths for other replicated synths or cash. If you need to know my personal motives, I learn best by re-engineering those who already have some level of success. Understanding synth design helps empower me to make quality, unique sounds faster than piddling around for hours. As a producer and person who values my time, it's in my best interest.

but seriously, if you're just given the patch, why would one bother to learn how it was built?

The people who do that are shitty producers anyway, so I wouldn't be to worried. It's really insightful to see how something was made, that's why. Not everyone has the patience to do that, I guess.

Thanks for the helpful comment, pal. I do. Quite a bit actually. This one I made today just messing around is a little synth from No Think by Sepalcure.

Soundcloud

Made it using Ableton. It's nothing special, but here's the link if you want it.

Spent about 30 min making this one today with headphones and its not perfect. But unfortunately, I'm no master producer like you. Care to share anything you've made recently? I started this synth to get some exchange of sounds going not to be a fuck.
