It looks very tasty indeed with the touch pads and semi-weighted keys. Surely the touch pads must be amazing for programming drums! However ive heard people have had trouble with the infinite knobs.
Could anybody who has it please shed a bit of light on the product as i am seriously considering buying it. I dont have a midi keyboard at the moment and need one to better my production. Any advise about other MIDI keys to buy would also be helpfull.

I got the 61 key version last year and it's served me quite well. It's probably the first thing from M-Audio I can say that about.

The keys are alright, I mean they're not piano or anything, but I like faster "synth" action anyway. Noteworthy is that it does aftertouch. It's also pretty sturdy (although not as heavy as the CME metal behemoths). Programmability and performance features are perfectly good. It does the job and it's cheap for what it does.

for the $, the axiom's are the best you're gonnna get. i've got the 61-key one and it's definitely made life easier-- spent like 2 hours programming some presets and i can just fly in logic now. def. worth the investment.

the bundled enigma software is great and, shit, comes w/ a free--and legit-- version of live lite.

would've liked real weighted keys but somthing w/ the axiom's functionality and those would have been outrageously expensive.

drums pads are ok. not MPc- awesome but definitely useable.

all good for it;s price, but the problem is the knobs are very low quality, compared to the rest of the board, and the knobs have no 0-10 so to speak, which is a bit random for tweaking cut off's etc..

i think im gonna go with that, the pads look great for programming drums.
i am a bit concerned with the infinite nobs, TeReKeTe and Unempty did you find this a problem? they have got diffrent acceleration settings dont they? im not arsed bout playing live but i want good control for automation and ting in fruityloops and abelton.

I think it was Decklyn who said the knobs were useless to him.
If you have some extra cash, think about an additional BCR-2000.

One month work will pay the axiom-25 + BCR-2000 + decent monitors and you still have enough for some holidays.

I've got one and I like it...nice and sturdy. The knobs are ok but yeah, the fact they're infinate is a tad annoying at times. Just a bit. I don't use the drum pads but they seem fine. Good value for money, picked mine up for £110 I think.

the 61-key has faders, so i use those more often than the knobs. i have the knobs set up to control synth parameters on my hardware/software synths and they work totally fine.

mod wheel actually feels really nice.

the best part of it is the transport control; i record lots of live instruments for various projects and not having to hit the "r" and the space bar, then turn around and record, is great.

pads are cool... more importantly, easy to assign.

yeah go w/ the 49 key if you can. i'm just lookin' at how i've got mine setup to work with logic; i've got buttons set up for patch changes, to scroll through presets, a slider that's set to always write automation for whatever parameter is up-- shit like that is totally, totally useful.

I been looking at controllers and theres not too much available around my area, but i found one of these bad boys at a local music shop...

It's like $500 AU and im tempted to just go and buy it right now... any thoughts???

btw im gunna be hooking it up to FL Studio

It's not gonna improve the quality. Depending on how well you set it up, it could improve effiecency.
But mate, having something that you can play, tweak live will make a world of difference.
