I'm new to making dubstep but within the last month, I've gone from merely foolish around with sample packs, to...
1. learning how to program generic wobble basses in Sugar Bytes Cyclop
2. discovering from the Going Quantum podcast that dubstep doesn't use wobble basses any more
3. dismissing Sugar Bytes Cyclop and wobble basses
4. learning how to program respectably amateurish growly, vowely reese basses in NI Massive using wavetable and phase modulation
Next, I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction regarding the shorter, zappier, screechier noises which are often used to such great affect to punctuate the deeper, bassier noises.
(I don't know what this kind of sound is refered to as, so I hope these morkish adjectives describe it well enough)
Although these kinds of sounds are probably just versions of the same growly bass pitched up a bit, I can't make them sound right.
Any advice would be appreciated
