help with sending promos/demos

Post by goldengrime » Fri Jan 18, 2013 12:51 am

I've read the sending dubs thread btw,

But yea I was just wondering peoples take on what they put in writing when sending out music to labels and djs etc.

Keep it short and sweet? Give em a short bio? This is one area I've always thought is important but always lacked in it so much so that I kinda think to myself, 'if the tracks decent it will speak for itself' and I just write summit simple and shit most the time. I'm not saying this approach hasn't worked but maybe I could be doing better to get a listen in the first place? I dunno, I've also tried writng longer stuff but that doesn't seem to help either.

What's everyone elses thoughts on this? Any input from etiher end would be great I.e how djs or labels prefer to receive music.

keep it short and personalize it so people don't think it the same message you've sent to 30 other people
