Just went to windows 8 p.s ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Computer crashed so had to reformat (lost my windows 7 cd and windows 8 was only $15)
Downloaded all of my favourite vsts again but only 1/3 of them will work

so i thought that maybe i was missing certain c++ runtimes or other stuff like that?
or windows 8 is just not good for old vsts? most of them are freebies so some are more than a few years old

I heard a lot of VSTs don't work on Windows 8. Just get Windows XP or Windows 7.

Yeah it looks like it was designed by children, for children. As far as i'm aware, apart from shaving a couple of seconds off boot time and adding a couple of new explorer tools, there aren't any real advantages to upgrading. Benchmarks show that performance is almost identical when running games and applications.

Think i'll be sticking with Windows 7 for the foreseeable future!

We got one of these in our household just a few days ago.. Gahh!

Everything is so much more tedious to achieve on this thing.. I despise it.

Not my computer, but I already put Pokki on it (Basically a cool start menu for windows since they totally removed the start menu. (WTF?)

So I can completely avoid using the new "Start" and just stick to the desktop.. Even made a neat little shortcut for getting to the File Explorer (Which they basically removed from the computer, you have to search in order to find it)

It was made for Tablets, really not a Desktop thing man.. Fack you Bill Gates ;'(

I actually enjoyed it in the Microsoft Store on a Tablet PC.. It's the shit.. But without touch screen, it sucks.

haha it literally took me around 30 minutes to figure out how to shutdown my computer (i gave up after about 20 mins and had to google it)

Now i have to decide whether to put on virtual xp or dualboot with windows 7

I worked with 8 for a few hours, it's the same as 7.
But with one really big app they want you to uses all the time.

I'm keeping to Lion and XP.

(also, my 86 year old granddad switched to 8 without any problems )

Traktor kept crashing on Windows 8 for me so I DJed out on Tuesday with Virtual DJ

win8 works fine for me. more stable than win7 now. cubase 7 had a few hickups but that was a licenser software issue. also, focusrite drivers are still beta for win8. i dont use many non cubase software plugins, so i cant comment on that. takes a bit to get used to, but thus far im happy with it.

all 60+ of my vsts worked just fine when i switched to 8. using all 32bit plugins in ableton 8.

my audio interface loaded right up too! didnt have to install the drivers like i had to for 7

Just adding that everything else except Traktor has worked fine for me on windows 8 (I think it might be my soundcard causing it to crash but I'm not sure)
