I like it for Reese's. The wave shapers are nice. i find that I get better results with absynth than massive, when doing the same things. t's just harder to use. I usually don't bother doing any automation in the synth itself. I just get a base sound, usually saws w some nice distortion, and then throw it into a sampler.

yeah, it's definitely less obvious, but i've spent a lot of time in massive and fm8 so i figured it out pretty quick. i don't like how you can't use fractions for LFOs, you have to use ratios which is unusual for me. but i've got some sick sounds already and i've only had it open 10 minutes :U: :U: :U: :U: :U:

Yea, I don't even bother doing any filtering in absynth. Don't like how they have it set up with the freq. numbers. Plus I usually like to distort before I filter, so I do most of the filtering externally

i like the waveform section, you can draw waveforms & then make them FM itself + other cool crap
try it out.

I love the soundscapes session. Knowing the synth is a plus, I can remove the unwanted layers, mess with the envelopes. Using it as a rompler really improved my workflow.

Preface: My reeses are not amazing.

That being said, it's not magic. It's just the routing, waveshaper and other options to introduce movement all in on VST. Also, don't forget Absynth is a great sampler, so you can load up simpler reese patches, or analog saw/square wave samples or whatever and use the filters to isolates the part of the spectrum that sounds best/has the qualities you want out of each sample.

Never have I ever, since learning basic synthesis, intended to make a reese and ended up with a pad. Totally different sounds. I rarely use Absynth for pads, really. I use it for strings, leads, basses and SFX.

It's also a great FX unit, don't forget you can load it up as an FX : )

If you guys have made any sick sounds with just exclusively absynths, bounce em to audio and post them here. I wanna hear some stuff out of absynth. This thread is intriguing me.

I use it as my do-everything synth and sampler, mainly because you can change the temperament or "tuning."

The older ambient stuff on my Soundcloud is mainly Absynth.

pluginguru has some good tutorials.

I use absynth, but strictly the stock presets haha. I have no idea how to synthesize in it. I do know that it's freaking powerful. But I am not comfortable in it like I am in Massive.

you guys, the morph waves are amazing. im only using absynth 4 so i dont have the new filters. but using FM and using like a square and a morph vocal wave routed through a waveshaper is crazy.

use what you've learned with massive, the principles are identical. run up to three different waves through filters and fuck with them until you've got what you wanted!

Also, draw envelopes for everything.

Absynth is amazing, I get the most analog sounding shit out of it. And the most otherworldly. And the most brosteppy. And the most.. everything. And the CPU hit is way lighter than Massive!
