Good Toms For Dubstep Fill Ins Please!

Post by IamDroid » Fri Feb 01, 2013 6:37 am

Hey, guys do you know any good tom sample packs or have any good tom samples yourselves from your own sample collection that are good for Dubstep drum fills. Specifically the ones that Getter and a lot of artist from Heavy Artillery and Never Say Die use. I'm looking for those classic Dubstep tom samples, if possible. If not and solid tom samples should work if I can manage to process them right. Please. I really need to beef up my drum fills and my transitions between my songs. Any help would be amazing.

Just found this page now, there's 808 and 909 toms there. Not downloaded them myself. Let us know if they are any good.

Just downloaded the 808, The 909's aren't available anymore. I guess they were removed from the file sharing sever. Umm. the 808's are pretty bad though lol. I tried pitching them, and processing them pretty heavily and they sound more like bassdrums rather than toms. Not really feeling them at all. I guess maybe I'm not looking for 808's then.. Maybe I'm looking for actually drum toms, maybe even snares 0__0

EZDrummer is cool. So is Superior. But I'm not looking for drum synths. Just some decent samples. I want to avoid having to pay or torrent any other synths If possible.

Okay just went through all of those KVR recommendations, and haven't gotten much. I downloaded a drum programmer/ synth plugin called Erratic2, which has some OK toms. But there not exactly what I'm looking for. But, definitely the toms from that demo version of that plugin are a step in the right direction. Anyone else have anything?

I know it sound cheap but try searching around google, youtube and music stores for drum lessons and sample from those. Even if the quality is low, after reamping it with a tube / tape sim and applying a bit of eq, chorus and delay to position it in the song, it won't sound bad. Samplers from cheesy sample packs in primeloops and/or loopmasters related to metal or rock drumming may have a few gems waiting to be chopped inside.

DJ Shadow used to do this to find new breaks. Also just noticed the spelling mistakes, I'm really sleepy and it was a busy and incredible hot day, sorry.

I feel your pain! All tom samples I find are terrible, and the ones; specifically from people on Never Say Die are so clean!

Yeah exactly.. I'm not sure where they get their samples. I know Zomboy use to be in a band, and he samples the toms and snares from actually drum kits his mates had. Maybe he shares the samples with other producers? Because he has some of the best drum fills in EDM.

Hahaha I asked him about his fills when he was on stickam and he said that exact line. Were you there? If so, just know that almost every question he answered was mine :6: :6:

dodge and fuski say they get all their tom fills from the vengeance clubsounds 3 pack. i have it and paged through the folders of loops and heard most of the exact same samples. sounded like lots of the NSD artists source them from here. kinda generic sounding but thats literally the exact same samples
