paraphrased industry insider wrote:With the deportation / snitch scenario's of SEVERAL artists in the last couple months, intenational artists will need a work visa. This visa is in the multiple of thousands of dollars ......Damn myspace!
Thats the culprit as customs now just look there and most artists have their real names in interviews online or even on the myspace biog, and along with it, all their dates in Europe and the US..and they are yoinked just like that!
* just another heads up to be careful.
but, yeah, you'd think they'd have more to worry about than some European bloke trying to play music and make a few, considerably cheaper, American dollars

Yeah its no joke believe.
Just your artist name alone is enough, I know people that have been stung for not having the right visa just through customs checking on the net.

This doesn't surprise me at all, customs and immigration officers in the states are some of the nastiest people I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with. Thanks for the heads up.

using your real name on your myspace is a bit silly all around. employers search blogs, facebook , myspace on the regular now. at my work we got a memo saying that membership on these sites will be "monitored" by our human resources dept.
the power of google.

Well anyway I have no plans on going to the US until they stop fingerprinting people.

scary business. we have something similar where i work. also apperently it's very common for companies to do this after job interviews prior to employing people.
try not to use your real name/keep stupid stuff posted online stuff to a minimum guess.

i don't understand why artists always have visa trouble getting in to the us, it seems retarded, they are here for a legit purpose that is very commonplace... why in the world would they be rejected on the case of their online identity?
