Hypothetical question regarding "making it in the music biz"

Post by Alissio » Thu Feb 14, 2013 8:37 pm

Ok, so let's say hypothetically that I have produced an incredible track. One that is sure to make it in the music business successfully. Basically this track will be the one that people will remember me for. So now what? What do I do with this piece?. Clubs, record labels, music blogs? What is the best way to go about exposing this piece of work? :u:

On a serious note. Try indaba/reverb nation and similar sites. Send music to radio stations, djs, hand out free cds outside the clubs (there was a very informative post about self promotion, including this, mixing with your speakers facing the street and much more things, try to find it. I think somewhere in production forum)

Send it to 'tastemaker' DJs eg Ben UFO or other prominent Rinse FM DJs. Even busy DJs listen to most things they're sent, as no one wants to miss the next big thing.

However, the likelihood of you / your track being the next big thing is probably low, the standards of most unsolicited demos is rarely that high. :D
