A Question For Any Promoters That Might Be Around

Post by bassbum » Sat Feb 23, 2013 2:00 am

How much should I pay when booking a big name DJ?
The few booking forms I have looked at online ask you to suggest an amount you would like to pay the DJ & expenses + what-not.
Is there a sort of standard amount for a big name & smaller DJ?
What the best way to approach agencys?

It's rude to talk about how much you paid for the artist.

different DJs charge different amounts. best way really is to just find the agency the DJ is on and send an e-mail to their booking agent asking how much they charge

If the booking form suggests an amount, make a budget and work out how much you can afford to pay them.

A well-paid DJ is a happy DJ and you want to make sure they will play well.

As has been said figure out how much you can afford, and explain how you got to that figure. But you're in for a shock to see how much 'underground' artists get

It's worth trying to build a relationship with agencies too. And bear in mind they will be ruthless with you, so don't let them screw you.
