Monitor/Sub Query

Post by psychonaught » Fri Aug 24, 2007 2:47 pm

Alreet ive got two passive monitors running through a hifi amplifer. i want to buy a tapco sw10 to add to my setup. this is an active subwoofer though.
so basically my question is, is it alreet to run an active subwoofer through my amplifer. im pretty stumped and all the line in/out lines are confusing the crap out of me.
please help, i dont wana waste 100bucksss

also whats the major diffrences between passive and active speakers, im not talking about how they work, i mean in terms of sounds quality. with passive speakers does the quality of the amplifier make a big diffrence, because at the moment im using a pretty average hifi amplifer.

answers to those questions would be greatly greatly appreciated :D

easy

All you'll do is stick your amplifier between the Output of the sub and the speakers. Start saving for cables and turn that frown upside down. :D

Haha. Yes, yes it would. Is it a 5.1 card or something?

cheers for all the help. im going to buy a pair of Alesis M1 Active Mk2's then save for a subwoofer later on.
one question though, do i need a good soundcard to get the best out of these speakers. will the bog standard one that came with my computer do the job?
is it worth buying a 20quid or so soundcard? or is that not going to make any diffrence?
