Fm8 changes sound after I save in abelton?

Post by Crazy Dubb 7 » Mon Feb 25, 2013 6:57 pm

I have researched this on NI forums and haven't got any luck. I am new to the FM8 plug in but have have seen many other people with the same issue. I come up with a sound that I like in FM8, I save it, Then I put it in a midi clip in abelton, it sounds fine. As soon as I save my project and reopen and play it, the FM8 sound is always different. Also, I have seen that FM8 does this in other DAWS besides abelton live. This might be a broken record question by now. Any feedback? Thanks.

Doesn't FM8 reset to the INIT patch upon reopening a project? It is/was a known bug and you had to reopen the patch.

if you have adjustments on the easy-mode tab, they don't save unless you save the fm8 patch itself.

Yes I heard it does that. Do I just have to wait until the bug gets fixed and just reopen the saved patch every time I reopen my project?

mine does this too, you just have to bounce it to audio once your done with it. freeze the track, then drag the audio down to a new audio lane

Also, even when I don't touch the easy morph controls. If I save the patch in fm8, re open it, and play it agian it still sounds different. I dont even have to save my project, once I load another midi clip to put the same fm8 sound in just to see if it changed it does. Any ideas?

I had this problem too. This is Unison Phasing problem. When you save it up, and run the project again, every unison note will have different phase so it'll sound different.
The only fix I know, is to switch unison to 1, and then back to your number, switch mono button few times, sometimes it work.

Or just don't use fm8 because it sucks.

lol quote instead of edit

I found the problem turn the polyphony voices down to 1 and turn on mono if you haven't already.
