Are you using one Redrum for each kind of drum then? Like one just for hats, one for kicks... etc.

yes most of the time i do. For me i think i've more control with the compression, eq and all that kinda stuff. It gives me more space and possibilitys if i wanna change something later on. I dont know how others do it but for me this feels good

If I dont' use different redrums for each drum type I at least use a designated mixer just for drums.

Thanks Roqqert,
This is my first post, I've been lurking around reading all the advice on the forum for sometime, experimenting/learning, and this has been the most concise info on getting something started to date.
Some discussion on using delays (in Reason, with a picture) would be really helpful if you or anyone feels like adding another tutorial sometime?

Cheers :D

nice tutorials :)
personally i prefer using a combinator for delay, built myself a dub-delay patch with filter, tape & feedback circle that's more flexible

delay

Post by slva » Mon Aug 27, 2007 11:31 pm

Thanks Roqqert,
...for such a speedy reply!!
Automating the by-pass is a very useful tip, something I'm not in the habit of doing in Reason... up til now. MS stands for miliseconds and I found selecting it, then taking off 2 digits gives a subtler repeat over a long feedback setting for dub style delay IMO. There's more to dub FX and splashes, than just delay tho. For that stuff, a mixture of reverb and offset delays - what you've set up Kazuo, sound interesting & worth a look, fancy sharing that patch / file maybe? For PC user's there's awesome free VST echo plugs available (http://www.interruptor.ch/vst_overview.shtml) but not for us Mac users unfortunately, hence why I'm trying to do some of that in Reason.
thanks again :wink:

MS = milliseconds

For 1/8T or 1/16T the 'T' stands for Triple

few tips on here http://www.reasonstation.net/tutorials/mastering.php on how to use the delay or chorus to increase the stereo feild as well, the stereo delay trick is especially hevy, it will apear to increase the stereo field alot wider than the stereo imager can, use it sparingly tho, best used wiv pads
