There's about 1000 tom threads already.

Go watch Dodge & Fuski's YouTube tut on this.

Also xKore uses FL, some of his tom rolls sound like he's just used the stock FL toms tbh.

Getting yourself some decent raw tom samples is the first step. I like to load about 5 tom samples and pan them across the stereo field, then process them all together. My FX chain is usually something like this;
- EQ with a high pass and a bit of mid taken out/slight high boost
- transient shaper (NI's transient master) to give it some attack and take off unneeded sustain
- a soundgoodyiser (FL plugin) on setting A at about 75% wet (I like how it sounds on toms)
- a bit more compression with a gate to clear excess ring

Still a working progress getting sick sounding toms but atm they sound pretty realistic, although I've got velocity editing to thank for that aswell.

"get a three tom set

vary the velocity and pitch by a single semitone on each

and youll have a full set

keep a steady choppy riddim

make sure the transients are nice punchy and warm" - xKore

From one of my conversations with him on facebook about a year back.

man, you are worrying about toms, sooner or later you will worry about hi hats, xkore sounds like xkore, you should sound like you, save yourself the time and instead of searching for his toms make your own that makes your music unique, you will never get better if your trying to sound like some one else.

You have a point, but everyone has to start off somewhere, whether it be trying to mimic someone's drums, or recreating a Skrillex bass. It's all down to that one person. Personally, I would love to be able to have drum samples like the ones the guys at Never Say Die use. That would be sick. I understand mimicking isn't all that great, but can be original if one puts their own twist on it. I have found that making my own kick and snare and stuff is a lot more fun than copying, but I have no idea how a tom truly sounds, so if figuring out how they flow through a mimicking thread is how it's going to be, than so be it. :cornlol:

This is, if you ask me, the best metal/hardcore producer there is (He produced The Devil Wears Prada and basically created the entire sound that dominates that genre now). He's releasing some of his drum samples on there. So if you're looking for quality metal toms, that's the place to look.

Edit: Kinda wishing I didn't share that now, but I did. So there you go, lol.
