I've used AKG's K 271 MK II for a couple of years now.*

They are a little underwhelming in the bass department and a bit too bright at first but I can do mix downs in them now. I still don't trust myself to really get in about the low end though. The build quality is great; I've been taking them on and off with little concern and throwing them about and they're still in good nick although the leather on the ear pads did begin to crack about a year ago. They aren't super loud but loud enough to do the job.

If they were to pack it in tomorrow, I don't think I would buy them again and I'd probably pick something from the Beyerdynamic DT 770/880/990s but only because I know the low end is a lot more pronounced on them and it suits the music I make. So to sum up, go ahead if you think they suit your needs but you might want to rethink if you're making real subby music.

*I'm assuming these are the same headphones and that it's only a Europe/US re-branding. These are what I own: http://www.akg.com/site/products/powers ... ge,EN.html

Thanks for the reply, I really think on byuing them. For the need of good headphones for everyday production (not for mastering) I think that they are pretty good. I've heard that they are used alot, so thats pretty much resolvs my dilemma. ;-)
