Why would they put a lesser performing product, with a bigger number?

Afaik the 515s are mainly for "entertainment" use, eg. watching movies and the 438s (which I used to own) are Sennheisers really cool street headphones for listening to music on public transport. I'd get neither for producing. The 438s sounded shit but were really comfy if that helps

I would go with 280's, or save and get some ATH-M50's....

I really like HD438 because of the deattachable cable, and the fact that they look really nice. Also they are really cheap.
Just wasn't sure if they are viable for producing.

Cheap and comfy, but they don't sound that good. If you can get them for under £30 they are decent

(big ups for the follow, like and report Icetickle :D)

Actually I can buy neither HD438 or HD280 pro.. Shipping: Currently, item can be shipped only within the U.S. :u:
Shops in Serbia don't have good headphones and now I can't even buy from amazon..

By the way do you have skype?

Find someone you trust and order it their address.
It's how I ordered my Beyerdynamics.
Saved a bundle as well.

Nevermind I just found some guy selling Sennheiser HD595 for less than 30 euros (it's an auction).
Are those any good?

It all depends really, you pay for what you get with monitor headphones.
They may be an ok starting point till you can spend more.
I used cheap in ear phones for a while when it was my only option.
Reference your tunes against multiple setups to find your phones' sweetspot.
Generally if you can translate your mix to multiple systems you should be fine.
