Baauer/RL Grime Boiler room...HYPH MNGO??

Post by Ewen » Mon Apr 15, 2013 9:01 pm

Thought I'd put this in general too for others to see...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zpszTrnyWeM

This is the link for Baauer & RL Grime in the boiler room recently. Check this rough tracklist...

1. Joy Orbison - Hyph Mngo 2. 3. Joy Orbison - Sicko Cell 4. DJ Zinc - Wile Out Feat. Ms Dynamite 5. Chief Keef - Love Sosa (??? Remix) 6. Artful Dodger Feat. Craig David - Rewind 7. DJ Funeral - RIP Tribute 8. Crazy Cousinz - Bongo Jam (L-Vis 1990 & Bok Bok Refix) 9. 10. Zak Toms - Bring Me Down (Stanton Warriors Mix) 11. KW Griff - Bring in the Katz (feat. Pork Chop) 12. Canblaster - Clockworks 13. Amerie - 1 Thing (Bosstone Remix) 14. 15. Double 99 - Rip Groove 16. Jam City - Magic Drops 17. ASAP Rocky - Pretty Flacko 18. Dark Sky - Gaddagive 19. ASAP Ferg - Work 20. Disclosure - White Noise (Feat. AlunaGeorge) (Hudson Mohawke Mix) 21. 2 Chainz - No Lie (Feat. Drake) (Cashmere Cat Edit) 22. Duke Dumont - The Giver 23. Julio Bashmore - Au Seve 24. Zed Bias feat. Jenna G - Fairplay (Zed Bias Old Skool Remix) 25. 26. DJ Sliink - Put Cha Back In It (??? Remix) 27. Bok Bok - Silo Pass

Almost as if they've only just started listening to these kind of strands of UK electronic music. I don't know if this is a growing interest of these US acts, I don't really know what to make of it..

PS the actual mix is pretty horrible if you were wondering.

yeah once they've ruined a sound, americans then pretty much copy everything that originates from london (all until they ruin that too).

But who from the UK who do this mix ? 17. ASAP Rocky - Pretty Flacko into 18. Dark Sky - Gaddagive into 19. ASAP Ferg - Work into 20. Disclosure - White Noise (Feat. AlunaGeorge) (Hudson Mohawke Mix)

Ahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, nobody, so it IS original. :P

(For the record I have not listened to it)

Edit: And you know it's pretty cool for some peeps to start a set with that tune. You UK people may be proud !

If you listen to the mixing, you'll quickly realise that it is not eclectic, it is just plain ignorant. Defacing the UK scene is one thing, but doing it with Hyph Mngo...inexcusable!!

and there is nothing special about this mix, oneman had gassed up so many ppl on here. nothing original or special about mixing tunes at or near the same tempo.

No. I don't know about RL Grime but I watched an interview of Baauer where he said he has been listening to Rinse FM and been into the UK bass music scene for a long time, and it's actually his biggest inspiration. As for the DJing, they're both producers before DJs but they get booked based on their fame and their production, so they're having to learn to DJ now while they're getting booked. If you listen to Baauer's first boiler room set from last summer you can tell he's actually improved significantly since then (it was only like his 3rd time djing or something). Comparing their mixing skills to Oneman really isn't a fair comparison. Can't you English fucks just be happy when Americans appreciate good music?

do you mean like blues, rock and roll, or soul? or do you mean garage, hip hop, techno, house, breakbeat, let alone the act of beatmatching in general?

maybe because that track was played in most BR sets circa 2011...I'm guessing bauuer hasn't listened to Rinse since Harlem Shake

ok.. and then went crazy because of pretty flacko? that's not even a dance tune.. i dont think thats why they didnt react, the crowd isnt even an actual boiler room audience thats just the boiler room stage at SXSW
