Re: Alcohol licence loophole
Yes, pretty much. It's how church fetes etc get around not having to apply for temporary licenses.wubstep wrote:So what's the best way of doing this?

You may have an issue then if you're in a venue. There are two parts to an alcohol license, sale and consumption on the premises.
Re: Alcohol licence loophole
Not a venue, just a 14th century crypt I'm putting a gig on; never been any music there to my knowledge, don't send me to prison?

Raffle tokens is the tried and tested way - I've even seen it happen in some tents at major festivals!

yeah, raffle tickets were how Corsica did it for quite a while- a good way to avoid multiple tills/people handling cash too.

That's not to avoid licensing laws though, that's so that they reduce the number of cash registers they need to keep topped up/secure, and to reduce queue times when the servers deal with handing out change etc.

Re: Alcohol licence loophole
can't you just apply for a temporary license these days?? It was part of the shake-up to licensing laws a few years back, I think you can put on a few events per year unless I've completely misunderstood how it works....
