Hello, we are Go! - Liverpool's new dedicated Grime night.
We have purposefully selected an intimate venue with just a 150 capacity. We are no frills. We've got a room, decks, a mixer, a fat rig, some lights, a mic, some amazing DJ's & some incredible MC's, it's a simple formula. To prove to you our intentions, our first booking that we present to you is a very special one. On Bank Holiday Sunday 26th May we'd like you to come and help us welcome one of Grime's greatest innovators to Liverpool for the first time...Youngstar.
Back when Grime was still called Sublow and beats were still made with polyphonic devices, Playstations and any other voltaic utensil, Youngstar was an eight bar rhythm champion, and his seminal 2002 release 'Pulse X' pretty much turned UK Bass music on it's head. For the uninitiated, 'Pulse X' is essentially ground zero for Grime, and would come to define one of London's most aggressive dance music genres. Following a string of classic releases such as The Formula and Bongo and a slew of reworkings of these tracks (Forumla 2, Pulse Y, Pulse 4x4 etc etc), Youngstar then went onto produce for another of Grime's most seminal artists, Dizzee Rascal & is the producer behind the beats of Dizzee's classic 'Stand Up Tall' (hence the lyric ''Sounds of the Youngstar and Dizzee Rascal''). After 12 years in the game and with his classic tracks still popping up in places such as Four Tet and Toddla T's Fabric mixes as well as numerous other DJ's tracklists, we thought it was about time we got to experience the tunes that have brought us so much joy over the years from the man who made them.
Our 2nd special guest is Liverpool born and London based Slackk. Widely considered as one of the leading experts on Grime in the country, Slackk was the founder, creator, and borderline obsessive guy behind archival site Grimetapes. His productions have seen him release for a plethora of labels including Numbers, Local Action and Unknown To The Unknown, and he is also the man behind the amazing Patrice & Friends project. Basically, he is an absolute fucking don and we are very proud to have him play for us on his first proper hometown debut.
Backing up Youngstar & Slackk is a cast of Liverpool's finest DJ's and MC's from a broad range of nights and events who for future events will be our residents on rotation:
