Ableton signal chain derp.
So I've got a return track with a compressor on it that I have a midi note for a synth running through, my problem is, if I put a filter on the the midi track and filter out, the compressed audio from the return track is not affected.
I get why it wouldn't affect it, but how do I make it so I can use filters to filter out entirely without having the compressed audio come through still and ruin the effect I was going for.
Same goes for drums, how can I filter out drums with parallel compression?
Thanks!

I'm not sure I understand correctly. I sent a sound to a return track with compression on it, soloed the send, filtered the original track, and the sound of the return track was filtered. Does that not work for you?
Also, I don't think you're sending MIDI information to the return track, but audio.

that's what i meant, the audio coming from the return track is NOT filtered

Re: Ableton signal chain derp.
That sounds weird. Have you tried messing with the the audio to: setting on the track? You should be able to with select sends only and then just turn up the send knob or you could try setting that to the specific send channel.... Srry if that didn't help but I'm not really sure what u r asking.

Try flanger. \;/ Fix any prolbem .
Re: Ableton signal chain derp.
Probably read the manual. Audio may be sent before the effects on the channel.
Re: Ableton signal chain derp.
yeah but that has to do with the in/outs, not send/returns. I am not aware of this setting with sends/returns. I mean I feel like I'm stating the obvious, but a quick fix might be to just copy/paste that same filter onto your return track but be sure to put it BEFORE your compressor. but there probably is a setting somewhere that jonahmann might be referring to.jonahmann wrote:Probably read the manual.
