Neuro Bass (Koan Sound, Feed Me, Kill the Noise, Noisia)
Neuro Bass (Koan Sound, Feed Me, Kill the Noise, Noisia)
Hi All,
There's a specific sound that I'm trying to achieve but after researching online, I found there's a tons of different ways. I just wanted to start a forum to discuss and gather thoughts.
I apologize if this is something that has already been discussed.
The sound I'm referring to is the Reece/Neuro bass used by artist like Koan Sound, Feed Me, Kill the Noise, Noisia, etc. If you all need an example I will post a link but I think the artist I've named are prolific enough that you know the who and what sound I'm referring to.
I've heard of Freq splitting (Can some explain this in details for me?), resampling, etc. Any ideas guys?
Thanks in advance all

Saying there's a reese thread with in a forum that may have thousands of posts is like saying since we have satellites that can see pretty much everywhere at any given time, we should know about all crimes committed on the planet. Unless coordinates are given, they're useless.blinkesko wrote:blinkesko wrote:there is a reese threadpeaka wrote: I apologize if this is something that has already been discussed.
I'm saying a link would have been much more effective than making a blanket statement...

Re: Neuro Bass (Koan Sound, Feed Me, Kill the Noise, Noisia)
The reese bass thread has been on the top 15 threads of sound design subforum for as long as the subforum has existed. It's also one of the threads with like 50 pages of replies, to make sure you can't miss it.peaka wrote:Saying there's a reese thread with in a forum that may have thousands of posts is like saying since we have satellites that can see pretty much everywhere at any given time, we should know about all crimes committed on the planet. Oh, and it's titled "The Reese Bass Thread". You could probably find it using the search function of the forums to search for that, if you can't find it otherwise.

The joke and the fact that you just praised yourself is a little weak but harsh nonetheless. Well played sir, well played indeed.

detuning saws and adding fx + distortion usually sounds like shit if you do that alone.
try this: get a sub bass (sine wave) send it to the master and also send to another channel with a bass (can be a standard midrange bass or detuned saws/squares) and distort them together + add FX like flanger, chorus, phasers/notch filters etc.. highpass this mid range channel at around 200hz and lowpass at 8khz or whatever you want. next use another bass with a nice high end then highpass it to use some clean highs along with your reese.
tbh this is the kind of technique the pro's would use, the high end on basses can get destroyed very easy so doing this keeps it clean when going mad with fx. also the sub being distorted along with a mid range bass can give nice warm lower mids + it will make it sound more like the kind of reeses you're after if done right.

Awesome! That's solid advice bro. Can you clarify something for me? How many channels should there be altogether and what should be running through each of them?sunny_b_uk wrote:detuning saws and adding fx + distortion usually sounds like shit if you do that alone.

Very much so!Coolschmid wrote:Are you retarded?peaka wrote:Awesome! That's solid advice bro. Can you clarify something for me? How many channels should there be altogether and what should be running through each of them?
Are you trying to seek attention via forums by posting a scandalous pic? Then you take the time to read through the strain and just so you can show off the pic, make a random comment? Don't worry, I don't blame you. You're young and starving for attention so I'll give it to ya

Please don't tell daddy about this...
