Epoch - Soundboy Abduction Part 1
a) Epoch - Bodywash
b) Epoch - Gun Talk
Releasing on May 24th, exclusive to Juno Download.

The Egyptian Avenue imprint has already blessed us with some of the most leftfield and adventurous bass-fuelled beats of the last 6 months, and for their latest transmission they keep the mood gritty, raw and straight-up rude with label-head Epoch going for dolo on EGPTVN003. The Christchurch resident’s productions boast deep sub-pressure and ingenuity in equal measure, with glimpses of grime nostalgia interwoven with staggering 130bpm based rhythms. His inimitable, forward-looking take on sounds of days gone by has earned him support from the likes of Dusk & Blackdown, Wen and LV, and a following of heads looking for something skewed to rock their speakers. Dropping this May, Egyptian Avenue’s third release runs with the rowdy, infectious sounds of ‘Bodywash’ as the A-side, backed with the badman flex of ‘Gun Talk’. There’s a playful element to Bodywash, as fleet-footed melody lines and woozy synth chords rise and fall against a raucous percussive backdrop adorned with gunshots and wobbling bass stabs. On the flip, Gun Talk crackles, buzzes and bleeps with glitchy lo-fi textures, underpinned by the warm swell of the bassline. There’s a marked change of pace at its midpoint, as the kicks quicken before the bludgeoning force of the low-end drops; pure dancefloor brock-out material to round off a pair of brilliantly murky, drunken and off-kilter club weapons.
