I'm baking a cake...
I've got the eggs, flour, and everything else I need, but I still can't get this damn thing to rise. The metaphor sucks, but I thought I'd come to the kitchen to listen in on the other chefs' thoughts: How do I get my leads to squeal like some of the stuff I've been hearing lately.
eg. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=BGpzGu9Yp6 ... GpzGu9Yp6Y 1:35 in, at the second drop.
It's more prominent on this track, though. It kicks in at 0:27:45 if you're not familiar with this track.
http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=xcLqVfKTtK ... cLqVfKTtKw
How do I get the synth so squeally yet prominent? All I get is a wail with no punch. BTW, I used Massive; tried the polysaw and Square-Saw2 WT's, with an envelope on the pitch, set to rise two octaves. I tried the scream filter too, still nothing. Do any of you know how to make this obnoxious synth? I love it.

How am I ignoring forum rules? I'm asking for technical advice. I did a search on this: nothing came up. I tried Google, and I tried to check the presets I have; still nothing. So I came here. If you have some advice to offer, maybe I'll take a peak at ur tunage. I don't have an uncapped data package - I use my phone, it has a tiny data cap - so I think it's a fair trade off.Echoi wrote:Seeing as we're ignoring forum rules here, opinions on my 2 wip's in sig please

Yeah, tried that, but it didn't help much. The synth needs more puch and something else I can't put my finger on.blinkesko wrote:scream filter
Also does Massive's Bitcrusher seem crap to anyone else? I use bitcrushers to make talking basses, but when I use Massive's built-in "bitcrusher," I can't as much get anything resembling a talking bass going. Is it just me?
Re: I'm baking a cake...
secret to both those are in the scream filter, also, use sample & hold instead of the bitcrusher in massiveGenericNameHere wrote:Yeah, tried that, but it didn't help much. The synth needs more puch and something else I can't put my finger on.blinkesko wrote:scream filter

Maybe you don't need to use different effects to get that sound, you just need to use those effects in the right way. Nobody can/isgoingto tell you exactly how to do it, you have the proper components, mess around more and have fun with it.

Re: I'm baking a cake...
I've recreated the bun dem bass, I can confirm it's scream filter with an lfo on cutoff and scream.
As for the oscillators, I know it was a Sin-Tri, oscillating between with an lfo, and a -24 sine.
As for the Fx, just mess with shapers or clippers

Except he was running the "-24 sine" through a separate channel strip. You don't want those distortion effects or scream on your subs.vault wrote:I've recreated the bun dem bass, I can confirm it's scream filter with an lfo on cutoff and scream.

Re: I'm baking a cake...
That Bun Dem bass tip is worth a try ... first thing tomorrow morning.
Re: I'm baking a cake...
The sub is a different track, -24 sine and a +24 sine with a sine shaper gives a whole another sound, it's not for the subPillowFight wrote:Except he was running the "-24 sine" through a separate channel strip. You don't understand...the -24 sine you hear in the skrillex track IS his subvault wrote:The sub is a different track, -24 sine and a +24 sine with a sine shaper gives a whole another sound, it's not for the subPillowFight wrote:Except he was running the "-24 sine" through a separate channel strip. Re: I'm baking a cake...
you dont understand, the -24 sine in the patch is not a sub, the sub is another layer. If you run the -24 sine in the patch through another channel strip, you'd be left with a different sound, not the sound he usesPillowFight wrote:You don't understand...the -24 sine you hear in the skrillex track IS his subvault wrote:The sub is a different track, -24 sine and a +24 sine with a sine shaper gives a whole another sound, it's not for the subPillowFight wrote:Except he was running the "-24 sine" through a separate channel strip.
