Vault - Time to Rock (BroStep/CLIP)
Hey,
NOTE:First of all, I don't want to be criticized due to the genre, tastes DO differ, if I want, and like to make brostep, damn I will... So if you're a brostep hater willing to hate 'cause it's brostep and not to give feedback regarding the tune, then I suggest you close this tab.
Furthermore, I'm working on this tune for quite a while, and I really need tips, tricks, constructive criticism regarding the structure, mixdown, everything! Also, a few threads, videos that would help me would be highly appreciated
Cheers!

Re: Vault - Time to Rock (BroStep/CLIP)
IMO it sounds too "clean". I think it needs more distortion and saturation and whatnot added to certain elements to dirty it up. When it drops, it lacks impact. I think you need to add something there.
Re: Vault - Time to Rock (BroStep/CLIP)
You mean the leads/growls?

Re: Vault - Time to Rock (BroStep/CLIP)
I like the melody in the drop, but Halfnhalf is right, the drop needs more energy. part of that would be fixed with mixing
Re: Vault - Time to Rock (BroStep/CLIP)
Yeah, going to work alot more mixwise after it's done... Any tips for the drop energy? I was thinking of layering an impact sample , really short, crash, and whatsoevermarlin wrote:I like the melody in the drop, but Halfnhalf is right, the drop needs more energy. part of that would be fixed with mixing

Re: Vault - Time to Rock (BroStep/CLIP)
drops are trypically given their energy by filling the mix, then emptying it out and providing a groove. this track already has the groove, but the buildup feels a little lackluster. I think if the buildup is bigger, the drop will seem fatter. try layering in white noise with a high pass filter. you already have that chromatic synth rising in the background, but it seems to cut out a bit early. if you really fill that buildup with almost earpiercing high pitched sounds the drop will sound like a massive breath of fresh air. the chord progression and note selection is actually pretty cool though, keep up the good work.
Re: Vault - Time to Rock (BroStep/CLIP)
Drums are also a little on the quiet side and getting lost under all the midrange when the synth sounds are hitting. Maybe EQ the elements around the drums a little to give them space to come through.
Re: Vault - Time to Rock (BroStep/CLIP)
Snare and kick are boosted, all the elements are sidechained, might use a tad more sidechain I guess haha.wub wrote:Drums are also a little on the quiet side and getting lost under all the midrange when the synth sounds are hitting. Thanks for the advice! Never thought of filling the buildups with "earpiercing high pitched sounds", going to try this out, also the white noise trick, haha. OP you must be an Eptic fan. The tracks not bad, the vocal sample gets boring in my opinion.
Re: Vault - Time to Rock (BroStep/CLIP)
Haha, you got me. I'll try have some variations with vocal chopping during the intro and drop.rockonin wrote:OP you must be an Eptic fan. The tracks not bad, the vocal sample gets boring in my opinion.

Re: Vault - Time to Rock (BroStep/CLIP)
This has some really really sweet elements to it:
I'm Seriously impressed however I agree this could do with a little more variation and possibly a helping of grit on some of the basses
This is where distortion comes in handy and get friendly with bitcrushers :3
Hope this helped and great work :3
