Producer "Round table"

Post by legend4ry » Fri Jun 07, 2013 2:30 am

Huge bump.

I've been streaming beat making lately but does anyone want to come have a chat with me on skype and work on a smaller scale of this Sunday?

About 7-8pm EST. I just need to work out what software to use for VODs and i'll youtube it too.

ORIGINAL POST

Hello all!

For those of you who know me/of me.. I took a long break away from music and decided that the reason I fell out of love with it for a while was because it was just me. I lost most of my network of creative people and barely interacted with anyone on a music-level. I got a bit "normal" haha!

So I come here with an offer, kind of a advertisement too.

I am wanting to take advantage of the technology that is on offer to us as part of the internet generation and have started to, with streaming producing live- doing a independent to any radio station radio show where it can be however I want it for however long and now is for my next idea...

With the brilliant service (as usual) google is offering with 'hangouts' I thought it would be a good idea to get a core group of producers and like minding folk to meet up semi-regular and ask questions, create discussion and work together to form a community where people don't have to be scared to think outside the box. I thought i'd extent the offer to DSF and see if anyone is up for it. Looking to get a pilot going this weekend. I am working on a semi-structure now which I will share with anyone who is up for it...

Thoughts/discuss/show interest!

Hey ledge, been a while.

Sounds like a good idea. I'm always down to talk shop. It's pretty beneficial to get insight into other producers' processes since it kind of stirs up the ideas in your own head.

What kind of format are you thinking?

What I have down on paper at the moment...

Open : Introduce.

Show N Tell : share links , everyone takes a turn - we all listen/give critique. Talk of new plugins they're using / techniques, general thoughts of the person speaking.

News : discuss any production / music world news.

Question of the show : A concept is discussed - not your typical "THE LOUDNESS WAR" or "LOLSKILLEX". More like, being an artist in 2013 type of talk.

Tunes of the show : Those at the table pick 1 tracks they think people should know about.

Close : final thoughts / promo.

Works out at about 40-90 minutes in my head.

I don't know if this is only available to the forum regulars but I would love to be involved in some way. I feel you on trying to find people who are serious about music. I finish class for the year in a week and was planning to get on the music as hard as I could for the summer.

If you need to know more about me just ask and I will tell. I don't clame to be anyone special but I have had some luck in music.

Yeah that'd be really valuable I think. Could be good for mix feedback or advice on specific problems, etc.
I'd enjoy sitting in and providing input where applicable. Just don't make me prepare a speech!

Sounds like it could really light the spark though. More engaging than just posting on the forum.

Didn't we have a tinychat way back or something? My tinychat username is Sunklo so we must have at some point.

I've got an MPK61 coming in about a week or two (once I beat some sense into this bastard trying to charge me $125 for shipping) and once it gets here I'm gonna be cranking up my production efforts. This will probably keep me motivated and give me something to think about.

Sounds like a fun idea. I think the format you've got laid out so far looks awesome. It's not often we can really sit down and chat about not only production, but the state of music, check out what people are listening to, do a little promo, and all in a friendly pow wow type situation.

I would definitely be interested in listening/watching, but I doubt I'd be of any real use involved in it. Personally I still don't think I have acquired enough knowledge to really be all that helpful. Especially since i have a feeling this is going to go deep into the technical aspects of things. But like I said, i would definitely tune in for it. I love these types of things.

Sounds like a fantastic idea, to be honest. I could see it becoming a fairly successful sort of video podcast if this is going to be aired on youtube or anything like that.

I'd be totally interested. I have a fairly wide range of music I listen to on a regular basis, and I'm always looking for new ways to bend the "rules" of production to my benefit. Also, I think it'd just be a great way to meet other like-minded people on a more personal level than with text on a forum.

I'd be really interested.Becoming pretty disillusioned with music production at the moment for some reason so be nice to have some form of platform for ideas and discussions to stoke my flames again.
