  • Don't get too pissed
  • Practice your ass off before hand
  • If you're playing before/after another DJ, try and speak to them before hand to see what they're going to be starting/ending with so you can adjust accordingly
  • Nothing wrong with practising the first mix you're planning to do over and over until you've got it spot on perfect. Once you get the first spot on mix in the bag, it helps a lot with the nerves
  • Take some mix CDs to give out to people after your set if they were vibing it
  • Watch the crowd and react accordingly
  • Have fun & remember to smile

yeah try and keep an eye on the crowd, nothing worse than a dj constantly covering the equipment with their body etc

yeah, lots of laptop djs are keeping their eyes on the waveform and bpm mark on serato, not really looking at the crowd.
I feel like it's easier with vinyl, since you don't have a giant screen blocking your face and grasping for your attention.

This is a big appeal to me for vinyl. I look at a computer screen all day at work, why the hell would I want to look at one while I'm having a mix! Eyes naturally are drawn to screens, so when there's no screen to get distracted by, I find it easier to drift away and meditate on a good mix. :4:
