Can anyone vouch for this Mastering service?

Post by ThisIsSovereign » Tue Jun 11, 2013 2:53 pm

Was looking at different Mastering services and I found this one.

http://monarchmastering.com/

Their regular price is $40 per track but they have a 50% off summer sale going on so it's $20 as well as deals for multiple tracks. Tried searching DSF but can't find anything about it so I figured I'd make a post asking if anyone can vouch for them.

Their demo tracks don't sound too bad, but I'm sure that's the point of their demo tracks. Nowhere on their website does it mention what hardware they use IF they use hardware at all... if you have 20$ to blow I don't see why not

Just ran a search on them, and I'd venture to say they're not trustworthy. Reason being, I don't trust anyone/any company who, when a search is run on them, the highest ranking results that are returned come from their own website. That just seems fishy. Obviously a lot of effort was used on extremely biased SEO, and that could possibly be bad.

But, it's only twenty bucks, right? So it depends on why you're gonna master your tracks.

Advertising mastering for 'trapstep'.
Talks bad about software, yet mentions nothing about what they use, or has any pics of the gear/studio/monitors. Only says a 'special blend of processing'.
Says they will remove 'hidden frequencies that might blow up club speakers'.
Testimonials by netlabels and soundcloud users
Uses mediafire

ozone imo. i cant belive people get payed to load presets on pirated izotope products. the sad part is naive producers and bands are actually fooled into thinking it was a legit mastering and not some auto plugin

Oh these two do MUCH more then dial in some ozone presets. Just because you may have had shitty experiences with no-name netlabels doesnt mean everyone is cutting corners. You get quality for 20 quid a track here.

On the subject of trustworthy mastering. I'm surprised these guys aren't getting mentioned so much. Not cheap nor too expensive either. A really large amount of mastering in the UK scene is being done here for vinyl particularly. I own bunch of records I know these guys did that sound great.

Not necessarily slating the link in the OP but compare the websites and what is shown on the two and the information available (plus no genre specific stuff like "trapstep" being mentioned)

I mean star delta is aiming pretty squarely at the actual label release market but still, just for an illustration of how people who have the knowledge and equipment present themselves everyone should have a look.

I dont mean to turn this into a competition but 45 quid for a single track is a little hefty. Im fairly sure the guys i mentioned will deliver for half that price, and before anyone asks i have nothing to gain from promoting them. Im just doing it because i believe in them. Before anyone questions it, riddle me this: if they mastered a track in 2 hours that would mean 10 pounds an hour, now thats hardly an advocates salary is it. Im posting this because they deserve it, nothing more or less.

I wasn't meaning to turn it into a competition either I was just saying that the website in the OP isn't really that appealing if you were to compare it. Yeah Star Delta may be a bit expensive for most people on here but I was just pointing out with so many mastering services out there that you should look and see what actually stands out as a professional operation or not (I mean generally here).

Just to clear up who exactly gets stuff done there at stardelta. I know they've done Hudson Mohawke, Calyx & Teebee, Marcus Intalex, Black Sun Empire, everything on Paradise Club, Julio Basmore etc. even Deadmau5 and Excision have had masters done there (even though I'm not a fan)

Yeah fair enough twilitez if you can vouch for them, but people will always judge a service like this based on how the service presents itself. That's what I took away from it. No pics or not going into some detail on equipment or how their rooms are treated and trying to be secretive is a turn off tbh.
There's a lot of people cropping up on the net in the last 3 or 4 years who have been pretty much ripping people off, so the professionalism goes a long way.

Edit: Oh he wasn't vouching for OP's link, that's what I was talking about. I am familiar with Singularity and have heard their work, I agree it's legit.

I can vouch for scmastering, great prices and you get a pretty great sound out of it too.

Co-sign this. I got 2 releases cut by them and they're really good. If you press stuff with them it's pressed at Optimal as well so you know you're getting a top quality service. Very highly recommended.

Think that's hefty, I got a quote from a couple of London studios a while back for a 4/5 track EP - one quoted nearly £500.
