Heavy & "Machine-Gun" Basses in Reason 5
Heavy & "Machine-Gun" Basses in Reason 5
I use Reason 5 and I was wondering if anybody has any patches or can help me make a bass sound similar to this:
Soundcloud
Most tutorials on dubstep production in Reason are for normal, crappy sounding basses, but I'd like to know how to make a heavier one as this is.

You cannot make those basses in reason 5,you need reason 2 or 6 at least, sorry man.
Re: Heavy & "Machine-Gun" Basses in Reason 5
There's a thread in the sound design forum, basically make a heavily distorted patch then chop it into small notes

Thanks, but that seems easier said than done. How would I go about "chopping" it up? Just place short notes of it on the piano roll (or whatever it's considered)?Brothulhu wrote:There's a thread in the sound design forum, basically make a heavily distorted patch then chop it into small notes

You could do that or you could actually chop it up, as in bounce it and chop it into piecesSupertux wrote:Thanks, but that seems easier said than done. How would I go about "chopping" it up? Maybe I'll stick with FL Studio 11 + Massive? Would that be my best bet? Could I get some heavy Getter-type basses out of it? I believe he uses Massive, actually...

Re: Heavy & "Machine-Gun" Basses in Reason 5
Ok, well thanks, guys. I will stick with FL Studio 11, because it is the best DAW with VSTI support, in my opinion. It's unfortunate that my version of Reason (5) does not support VSTs. I will just learn more with massive and will read up about LFO modulation, etc.
Thanks.
Thanks.

And yes, obviously my sig is sarcasm - if I didn't think it was funny I wouldn't have put it in my sig.
I should think before I ask people things
