Pros:-
Stack tracks shoulda been done a long time ago but good to see it's in now :)
Flex-pitch = yup

Cons:-
No upgrade price :/
No support for 32bit plugins (not everyone has switched to 64 bit yet!)
Not feeling the look
No mention of multi-core support being enhanced, does that mean my quad-core would be just as useless with this as with 9 (not making use of all cores available etc)

Overall I'm thinking meh but maybe it has potential, might try it out at some point but I can't see me leaving 9 for it in any hurry.

140 for a DAW like that is a steal. If I was on Apple I'd be so on it.

^It is actually a great price. I still can't believe they aren't giving an upgrade discount though. That's really kinda shitty IMO.

Most upgrades cost that much money, though. Unless discounts used to be less, if so then that kind of sucks.

That's true. That's one reason I've never jumped on the Ableton bandwagon, shit's just expensive.

Looks like they've been having a play with Reaper by the look of those track stacks. ;-)
Something else they should have borrowed is x32 wrappers. Reaper 64 opens 32 bit plugs just as easily as 64 bit ones.

I actually kind of like the layout but not the individual graphical elements.

The drummer thing seems kind of funny. It'll either be kind of useful or a complete joke.

It's cool that they're trying to add some stock plugins that would otherwise be 3rd party like the drummer and guitar/bass effects. Logic has always shined with their built in stuff. I wonder how the organ sounds.

Actually, I think the GUI is kinda sexy myself. And that midi note over waveform thing in one of the pictures is interesting. The bridge/wrapper in FL Studio has worked really well for over a year (?). That'd be an issue for me as well, the no 32bit plug ins. I was surprised Ableton made that same move with 9 (no wrapper).

pros-- fucking AUTOSAVE. finally!

When things slow down in the fall, i might (might) consider upgrading, but i've got no time for the guaranteed hiccups of an upgrade right now.

plus i've got a lot of 32-bit plugs that i'm not looking to let go of.

Another note guys, Logic Pro X allows you to open project files that have been made in anything above Logic 5.

Could this be a move from Apple to lure in new customers with the low price, going back to a more expensive pricetag with the next version in the hopes that people will pay? >.>

Gonna get this as my first Logic. Not to be a silly bugger but this isnt like an update is it? I don't need to have a previous logic and I can start with this?

is $199 a like starter price or something for a limited time? That seems cheap in comparison to others?

downloading it now, looking forward to checking out the new features. Only thing that irks me is the GUI, too much like Garageband imo and therefore looks a bit naff

I quite like the look of it.Not so sure that i will upgrade yet, been on logic for a long time and am well aware of the bugs that can be slow to sort so lets wait a few weeks and see how other people find it.
Saying that have next week off work so may get an itchy trigger finger :6:

Its a clean install mate, so you won't need any other version of Logic to install this.

Wow this looks pretty nice. Track stacks would be a welcome addition, i'd love to mess with the drum kits and new synths.. and there's finally an arp. I already love everything in Logic 9, these added bonuses would be great. I'd be a fool to upgrade to an inevitably buggy logic 10 right now though, plus no 32-bit support is poo

first impressions, very impressed. if you can tolerate the somewhat dodgy graphics it basically Logic 9 with more power, a more "user-friendly" interface, and is a generally more streamlined Logic experience.

the workflow feels exactly the same, all my presets etc migrated perfectly, the menus are HEAPS more intuitive than the traditionally convoluted Logic sub-sub-sub menu system. it feels a lot more powerful and ridiculously snappy when zooming, navigating, previewing loops/samples etc.

i wish it didn't look like garageband, but I like it so far. The MIDI effects are great and all the new plugs look/sound solid on first glance/listen.
