How to make this sound (martin garrix animals MELODY PLUCK)

I was wondering how he did the sound in his #1 hit Animals

I know that he uses 3 layers. 2 for the warmth and 1 pluck synth with cutoff automations.

The important layer for me is the third and i found a video of Martin Garrix describing the making of this particular tune:

How to rebuild this sound?

Vibrato is that key to that style of sound, you here loads of that stuff in UK Hardcore ATM. The digitally layer sounds to me like detuned PWM Square waves. There is probably a complex wave or saw wave in there as well to stop it sounding so thin. The other two layers are just a Super Saw and the enveloped filtered sound he is using for pop. The pop sound is probably just some square waves.

Just make sure your vibrato is the same over the 3 sounds.

That's where I would start, could be wrong.

Try looking on youtube for the remakes. Ive looked like a week ago and people have a lot of remakes spot on... Its crazy how simple yet catchy the song is.

especially the resonance of the third, important, layer is very difficult to rebuild in my opinion. It sounds like some special reverb but cant really figure out whats going on. Especially when he opens the filter (you can hear it in his 'making of' movie at around 00:26 or, if you like it simple, in my second audio example).

And i heard all of the remakes. They are not bad. But also not perfect

Just sounds like a sharp, reverbed pluck with some distortion within Sylenth, perhaps the decimate or bitcrush

If you watch the video, I think he says the plucky sound is a pitch shifted Percussion loop that's dicked around with.

Depends what pluck you're talking about.

I am talking about the melody mainstyle Pluck. Thats not the percussive one!

Depends what your doing with them sometimes i skim through presets or found a good preset and tweak and mess around with the patch and got a completely different sound. Plus is just a good basis for aiming to get a certain sound. Only people who use presets constantly in there songs and dont try to be original will fall back in there production.

they havent held Martin Garrix back or loads of other producers, nothing wrong with finding a preset you like. Presets do not make tracks... compostion, arrangement, meldoy, hooks, percussion and mixdow are what makes a hit a hit
