Artists who make Complicated Drops

Post by apoplexy » Sun Aug 11, 2013 7:13 pm

I'm working very hard on my sound design and I'm looking for new sounds to try and recreate, drops that inspire me, etc. I'm looking for artists who use a lot of sounds within their drops. Ex: wub #1 wub #1, yoi yoi yoi, a bunch of lasers, wub #2 wub #2, some other noises, more yoi's, etc. What I'm going for is just a shit ton of random sounds, don't even care if I actually like the track itself but I can learn a lot more from a track that has a shit ton of sounds rather than a nasty ass Sadhu song that just uses 2-3 stupidly complicated patches that I won't be able to make for 3 years anyways.

Artists/tracks/links appreciated.

Cheers.

"no disrespect dude. but this is rubbish"
"Very experimental, but I didn't catch the music"
"I understand why those values are an antithesis to your thinking though, especially after hearing the group of buzzes, squeals, noises, and fingernails on a chalkboard type sounds, that to put it bluntly, sound like a 3 year old did, found here:"

"jeez man can you do something about Nelson baboon? He's scaring the shit out of me crazy - too much talk about killing and such "
"And I have to say again, that when somebody puts up an audio file in front of me (or any other capable person), I can ask myself how much of my musical knowledge, synthesis ability, or number of brain cells would I have to draw upon to create what I'm hearing, and when the answer is down close to zero, that's not something of value, and I get tired of people defending that kind of stuff.

Zomboy, Skism, Skrillex, Doctor P, Knife Party, Datsik, Excision, xKore, Virtual Riot and myself to some extent. Probably more towards what you're looking for.

It really all just patterns. Like remember learning about A B A B patterns back in like first grade. Just make a lot more of a complex pattern like A B A C D B C A A D B D and then repeat it. Plus this gives you tons of room to be original
Remix i did for a beatport competition - check it out and give it a vote if you're interested

They're not complicated, it's just your not well trained ears and lack of knowledge about synthesis.
whatever you interpret "complicated"

Look up Diesel and Shekel. Also, I might get hate for this but some of Skrillex's songs are quite complicated.

Why would you get hate for this? Other places you might, but here we actually recognize the fact that he's very good at what he does.

Hm. Had to look up this guy OP mention "Sadhu" patches and they're objectively child's play in contrast to something i.e. Noisia or even KTN would do. If you were determined enough you could figure out "Sadhu" sounds in a few months, and that's if you're new to sound design (you just have to be new if you think what this guy makes is "stupidly complicated"). So if that's what you want to sound like, you'll reach your goal faster going for such sounds directly instead of taking the detour emulating actually "complicated drops" by some artists mentioned in here.

His tracks all sound different which amazes me, his new track "Can't touch this" is not speaker friendly, the movement in the bass is very hard to hear when playing it in sets

ANYWAYS

Most artists that make (Sorry for the term I used, I will come to hate it also) neuro-hop, neuro-funk, and dubstep with neuro basses like Kursa, Frequent, MakO, and Skope
