Au5 Blossom Basses
Au5 Blossom Basses
I've been trying to figure out how to recreate Au5's Blossom basses, and I have no clue where to start.

I've also tried. I don't know what the inital process is, FM8, Sytrus, Massive, whatever.
But i have high belief that after the inital sound is made, it is put through a lot of stages of harmor, using the PRISM function. That is how it gets its really juicy sound. Just a thought.

Re: Au5 Blossom Basses
Yeah, I know he resamples in Harmor, but PRISM is a good idea. I'll be trying that. I also know that he uses
RAZOR, but i can't work Razor worth shit.

Re: Au5 Blossom Basses
He said on his facebook that he stopping using Razor two years ago...
Re: Au5 Blossom Basses
Never saw that. He uses harmor though.

We need to make some progress on this thread.
So, bump.

Re: Au5 Blossom Basses
A few guesses here, I could be completely wrong.
I think he uses frequency shifting on a lot of his basses.
I think he might also be bouncing out long bass notes with lots of filter movement and possibly frequency shifting as well, then loading them into a sampler and doing effects like pitch automation as well as adding other effects.
By the way, I've found that pitch automation on a complex reese-type bass in a sampler leads to lots of cool and other unexpected modulation because the rate of modulation is faster for high notes and slower for low notes. If you listen to some of the notes from Blossom that bend up and down in pitch, you can almost hear that the modulation is faster at the height of the pitch automation, suggesting that it was a resampled bass note that was loaded into a sampler. I could be completely wrong, but if I had to guess, that's what I would say it is.
The other interesting thing is that some of his basses are very narrow whereas others are very wide. He seems to alternate between narrow and wide and this adds to the motion that's already going on. I've never thought about intentionally doing that but it's a cool idea.

You mean how it kinda starts mono then goes stereo as the main sound continues? Yeah its pretty dope. Love that.Add9 wrote:A few guesses here, I could be completely wrong.

I love doing this, it adds a whole other dimension to your sound. I just automate the stereo spread knob on whatever mixer track has the sound on it (in fl studio.)jujment699 wrote:You mean how it kinda starts mono then goes stereo as the main sound continues? Re: Au5 Blossom Basses
I think au5 use is own voice to do these basses too
…. pitching up/down your voice in your DAW or Melodyne (for example), and adding a lot of effects (generally, maybe you need a few) gives your voice a totally new waveform. If you are very careful with this process, and using some automations, your sound could be so clear and cool like him
In Blossom's bass, if I'm not wrong, he use a LFO too (MidiShaper or xfer LFO Tool, maybe) to give more movement. And if you hear closer, you can note another bass with less dB at the end of that sound (at 1:26 , If I'm not wrong)
Plus Massive (Au5 uses it, I'm pretty sure I had read it somewhere), and some other vst
This technique is used by Borgore a lot in his dubstep songs from his new album 'New Gore Order'
Trollphace use this too, I'm Pretty sure
