Tone2s post about it:
http://www.tone2.com/html/firebird_vsti ... zer_1.html
Free Shit for DSF pros & noobs
Features:
Very easy to program and easy to use
A unique sounding synthesis: Harmonic content morphing (HCM)
High sound quality: Warm, transparent
437 hand picked presets included, over 1000 sounds available
84 oscillator types containing 18,000 morphable waveforms
38 different filter types
True stereo mode, 4x unison mode, and up to 8 oscillators per voice
Can sound like other synthesis methods - additive, subtractive, AM, FM, phase distortion, supersaw, vocoder, sync
Can sound like natural instruments like piano, brass, organs...
23 spectral manipulations or “modifiers” can be applied to the oscillators
21 arpeggiator types
13 effect types
Skinable user interface
Reasoning from Tone2: After seven years of faithful service, the time has come to set the bird free. Firebird itself has become vintage and even though it's no longer profitable to remain a commercial product, we feel that more people should deserve an opportunity to enjoy this sometimes heavily underestimated synthesizer.
Which is why we decided to release one last update and turn the product into freeware (previuosly $79). We want to say a big THANK YOU to all customers who supported the development of Firebird and other Tone2 products, by purchasing our software.
P.S I'm on a MAC. So all you assholes could feel special....I could've not posted this......
so who has the East West Quantum Torrents....fess up(pm me

).
Jk.

I'm a boss.
FYI I'm starting a thread now for a DSF One Synth Challenge.
Starting with Firebird.
It's a good experiment in synthesis.

Is this better than nt massive?
And does it also has effects like dimension expander and pitch cutoff?

It's the same price that you paid for Massive, if that helps?
Seriously though, it's
free. Download it and give it a try. To say one synth is 'better' than another is a matter of personal preference.

Tone 2's synths have a unique character that make them worth while.
The filters have a unique warmness to them.

Will try it out tho.

Did you even read the OP?

Sorry for dat.
On the bottom of the tone2 firebird page there is a sticker that says "win7 32bit 64bit" but I'm not so sure about that.
Can any 64bit daw users try this? It doesn't even let u choose which version do you want.
EDIT: Just read on ableton forum that it's 32bit only.

Why the sad face?
Just run it as 32bit bridged.
It works perfectly.

This is a dumb-ass question and you know it.
What happened to people actually spending time to research things?
When I first bought this synth I spent ages reviewing it, demoed it, etc.
Why would you just compare it to Massive and write it off if it's different?

Wouldn't write it off, but I can't live without the "pitch cutoff" effect. And yeah, I admit it's a dumb-ass question.

Using this to run it as 32 bridged?

Technically I have not idea. It's just an effect (I guess) in massive that works great on leads and atmos if used carefully.
But if you put too much it will sound crap.

Pitch Cutoff is just the pitch setting for unison.
