My latest track only going up to 10KHz
Bit of an odd one.
Chucked latest track in Spek just for shits and it only goes up to 10k. Looks a bit odd.
Thing is, the track sounds how I wanted it... sort of smokey muted techno - it's in the signature.
Would this sound stupid on a rig? I've not had chance to play it loud even at my own place yet.
I have muted most highs but I didn't think by that much...
Is it an issue? If the sound is what I wanted or is it "technically wrong"?
Cheers

Re: My latest track only going up to 10KHz
I've had similar tracks that go to like 12kHz usually happens when I go in on the Decimort, love that for grunging up sounds.
You can either ease up on some parts which can give a nice contrast so most of it still sits under 10kHz with the odd bit going up higher. But if it sounds good then it's all good!

Yeah I like to use it and drop the sample rate to get a darker sound. that with a bit of drive and some bitcrushing gets some real crunchy sounds

Well, the thing is it might on paper sound stupid but in reality the only thing that matters is whether you achieved the sound you want. Sonic character is for me far more important than whether or not something ticks all the "that's a good mixdown" boxes. If you're making murky techno the vibe is important. Look at what some of the stuff on L.I.E.S sounds like.

Very true,
It was at first quite shocking to see it cut off at 10k in Spek, never seen a track like that which what made me to post the thread.
If the vibes right, we all good.
P.S: LIES is the shit

Decimort's the one! I went through a phase of overusing it ridiculously. I've managed to since curb my addiction a littlefragments wrote:You love Demicort so much.
