Ways to discover more music.

Post by SpacedMan » Tue Oct 15, 2013 12:47 am

Most of the new dubstep albums and songs I find come from last.fm or youtube channels. I want to know how you guys find new songs. It's always a treat to find little gems like this.

If you help me out, that would be awesome and appriciated. If you berate me for not knowing this stuff, I'll understand too.

DubstepTunez is probably the #1 place on youtube to hear dubstep. I remember just getting lost in all his uploads for hours when first discovering the genre. Plus the owner is a top lad.

I also made this pretty small list of essential artists and shit to check out (at least for me): http://pastebin.com/twyPus0F

I don't really bother with checking out recent stuff as most of it puts me to sleep anyway. Also, check out GetDarker and Joe Nice for great mixes. Be sure to try and catch Joe Nice's monthly shows if he still does them.

I found loads of music when I first started buying vinyl by just searching Discogs. Find a producer I like, look at the various label back catalogues they've released on, find other producers on that label I like, find other labels that producers released on.. continue.

Its like modern day crate digging.
