It's 2Pac.

I could come up with arguments for plenty of others and a Top 10 would be impossible to define - Biggie (great MC, average artist), Andre 3000 (Great artist, above average MC), Chuck D (Great artist, lacklustre MC), Nas (Great artist, good MC), Busta Rhymes (Unbelievably good MC, rubbish artist), Eminem (amazing MC, frustratingly unreliable artist) - but if I'm absolutely honest, it's 2Pac. He had everything* and he knew how and WHY to use it.

*except a fucking vest.

If they're dead then it's hard to say, they may now of gone the way Jay-Z has, who went from being a clever witty lyricist with a great flow to utter unlistenable, cringe worthy gash.

2Pac was a little 'same ol' I mean how many variations of 'I'm a Thug' can you put out and Biggie too was veering off his original rawness by the 2nd album.

I'll go Nas because illmatic still, plus there is always a few decent tracks on every album released since, he just has poor beat selection for albums.

LOL @ 2pac and Biggie

fuck off.

Nas, Mc Ren, Jay-z (and maybe Big L) one of those 3/4

honestly tough, there is no goat.

But, say if Wayne or Eminem died tomorrow, they'd be guilded as the goat. they're outsiders on the scale as is, but if they were to pass, it goes without saying they'd claim the 'throne'

Nas is a really good shout. Content and flow, most definitely... but yeah, the consistency of his beats let him down. My girl reckons Nas is a "bloke's MC".

Maybe.
Mc Ren
Fuck no. Not even the best MC in N.W.A!
Jay-z
No. Best marketer? Most consistent flow? Maybe. I always check for Jay-Z, but his entirely unvaried subject matter takes him out of any top ten IMHO let alone the GOAT position.
(and maybe Big L)
No.

No they wouldn't. Well, Eminem might. Everyone knows Lil' Wayne is 2nd Division at best. And I like Lil' Wayne.

I'd go Raekwon out of all the WU, Cuban Linx, CLASSIC. Also Pun's first album but then there was that god awful follow up, granted he had passed by then but
