Finding vocalist to work with.

Post by bassbum » Fri Jan 03, 2014 1:41 am

I'm at the end of my social circle and I cant find a singer to work with. I would like it to be someone in my town so I can get a regular thing going.

Any advice on finding one? I would prefer it to be someone in my town but I would go for someone from anywhere if I can't fine someone close by.

I was working with a really good vocalist but he has a new job and not much time for music. After working with him I don't want to go back to solo work.

You can tell them that you are a producer. ;-)

Go out and see some shows. If you hear someone you like, talk to them and see if they're into some side business.

And/or be lazy and throw an ad on craigslist.

I'm in the same boat atm. Try to listen to as much music as possible, when I say this I don't mean releases. You're going to have to hunt out unreleased stuff, other producers with vocalists on their stuff and hit them up (probably over FB) also look to other genres, you're bound to find some great voices who hadn't even thought to work with this sort of scene and you may end up with something unique :)

Might not help with someone local but I see people I know who make "chillstep" and various flavors of FOTM House music recommending this site for finding vocalists - http://figurelessmusic.com/

Have you tried advertising in 'find a musician' sort of websites like joinmyband.com(uk only i think) and musolist.com there should be other good ones as well. It's normally free to put up an advertisement. Put Worth a shot.
